SUMMER SIZZLES AT CCP: Camp CCP celebrated summer with projects and field trips downtown connecting kids with art, community, and the written word. Students had a chance to show who they are artistically, and as part of their community, by designing their own Puzzle Project pieces. The pieces fit together in a completed exhibit, viewable as a community Puzzle Art Project at the Biblioteca Lantinoamerica. Come see their work! Kids then got to see others’ art when they walked downtown to the San Jose Museum of Art, where docents helped them appreciate the work of several professional artists’ current exhibits. We also went to MACLA (Movimiento de Arte y Cultura Latino Americana), where students visited a technical music & multimedia studio, and where San Jose teens come after school to create visual and performance art with mentors — right here in our own backyard http://maclaarte.org/programs/dmcstudio/! And of course there were reading and writing projects — plus trips to the ice cream store and through the downtown fountains to celebrate both accomplishments and the sunny days of summer.
